QUOI DE NEUF? is a new national series for lower-secondary French, combining up-to-date and engaging language content with a greater focus on students' intercultural competence. Students are invited to explore French language and culture through contemporary bandes dessin es drawn by a professional French graphic artist based in Lyon. Up-to-date photographs shot on location, along with authentic French texts and realia also enable deep reflection and engagement. Throughout the text, students are encouraged to compare their own language and culture with those of the francophone world, noticing similarities and differences and making connections that enable them to see how language and culture are inextricably linked. They are encouraged to see their own language and culture through new eyes and use their insights for a practical purpose - more meaningful interaction in French.
